Rest in Peace Ed Abbey on this International Day of Action for Rivers

Abbey passed away 25 years ago this date and his outspoken voice for protection of nature is sorely missed.   Hopefully, everyone is honoring his memory by celebrating on our near a favorite stream or park and enjoying themselves.  Be sure to take photographs and share on social media and with your elected representatives, urging them to protect our endangered natural heritage.  One way they can do this is by opposing the planned dam and reservoir on White River.

Here’s pertinent Abbey advice fr today.

Do not burn yourselves out. … Enjoy yourselves, keep your brain in your head and your head firmly attached to the body, the body active and alive, and I promise you this much:  I promise you this one sweet victory over our enemies, over those desk-bound people with their hearts in a safety deposit box and their eyes hypnotized by desk calculators.  I promise you this: you will outlive the bastards.”
